Herewith the Official Pride Kickoff Announcement.

This is the beginning of a whole *week* of events associated with Pride, some of which are detailed below. The full schedule is available at the URL listed near the bottom of the announcement.


Good morning... and HAPPY PRIDE!!!

Pride Week kicks off today, Friday June 2nd, with the Flag Raising ceremony (12noon at City Hall Plaza), hosted by Mayor Thomas M. Menino (rain venue is City Hall). Join us and this year's Marshals for the official proclamation of "Boston Pride Week 2006"!! [ http://bostonpride.org/flag_raising.php]

Tomorrow, Saturday June 3rd, will be the 6th Annual Pride Day at Faneuil Hall (10am at Faneuil Hall). This will be the occasion to learn more about our Marshals and other non-profit community groups: The Network/La Red, The ACLU of Massachusetts, Moving Violations Motorcycle Club, MassEquality, and the Friends of the Governor's Commission on GLBT Youth. Thursday June 8th, 7pm at the Back Bay Grand: Pride Idol Finals

Saturday June 10th, 12noon at Copley Square: Boston Pride Parade

Saturday June 10th, all day at Boston Common: Boston Pride Festival
The Festival will be gathering more than 100 community groups and merchandise vendors, in a whole new layout of the Common, for your very enjoyment!! A new Kids and Family Area, co-sponsored with HRC, will be provided this year! Hedda Lettuce, Reina, and legendary pop and dance diva Shannon will be our 3 national acts this year, performing Live on the Common. Local artists performing include: Mara Levi, Edison Arthur, Sister Funk, All The King's Men, Anne Heaton, Edie Carey, and Moxie Fever!! [ http://bostonpride.org/festival.php]

Sunday June 12th, 12noon on Perkins Street, JP: Jamaica Plain Women's Block Party
Come kick your feet up and git your HO Down to the sexy sounds of DJ Kristin Korpos. Featuring hot dancers and the chance to win free concert tickets. Come show your Pride and celebrate our Diversity through music and dance. We have Tracy Young (Miami) and DJ JST (Boston) at the turntables. They promise to turn it out for you! We also have special performances by up and coming Dance Divas, Kristy Kay, Jenna Drei and Ohsha Kai will sing a few of their latest hits.
