Time Event

MBTA News for Pride weekend
This mostly FYI for those who will be taking the T to Pride from Somerville, Cambridge, and points north. Starting at 9pm Friday, the MBTA will be shutting off part of the Red line, running buses from Kendall/MIT to Park Street and back *for the duration of the weekend*. Meaning if you plan on taking the Red Line to the parade and/or festival, allow extra time, as they say, to arrive.

I have my own thoughts as to the timing of this, although truly I suspect it's just idiocy in part, and 'when *else* can we do this; there's a celebration of some kind every damn weekend in June and July' in part.

Crossposted to the polyboston announce list. Forward wherever you like.

MBTA News for Pride weekend
I called the Red Line and after getting transfered I told them that I wanted to confirm that the Red Line was going be diverted and delayed and the guy told me that they weren't sure yet and then I asked him if he knew that Pride was going to be the on the Common this weekend, he said that were very aware of it. Even though he didn't come out and say it, the way he said it was like they have had lots of calls and/or emails about it.

EDIT: I called the Red Line Chief's office and asked them why the diversion - it's due to "all kinds of track work". According to her secretary, they had no knowledge of any major events going on this weekend. Wanna make it known to them? Here's the info...
